Situated on roughly 80 acres of land, Gretna City Park will undergo an extensive revitalization in an effort to improve stormwater management and increase recreational use for the surrounding neighborhoods. After years of repeated floods and damage to personal property, the City of Gretna received funds from the LASAFE program to address drainage issues in the area, while also enhancing the aesthetic appeal and functionality of Gretna City Park.
Key features of the project include the expansion of existing ponds and lagoons, addition of numerous trails and landforms, creation of more access points for recreation, construction of a multi-purpose pavilion, and installation of countless native trees, shrubs, and ground covers.
